Forest Hill

  • Status: Concept
  • Scale: Mix-Use Residential
Looking East from Lonsdale Avenue - This is the view from the public plaza next to North Vancouver's Public Library. In addition to the unique view, the terraced form provides more sunlight in the plaza during the day. Maximizing & optimizing the sunlight gain in the public plaza was one of the main parameters for creating the form.

Project Description:

The Forest Hill project is currently in the pre-design stage. We are currently creating the team to plan, design, and execute this project that will include a local developer, architect, and multiple consultants. The main objective for this project is to provide a solution to a complex, multi-dimensional design question: How can urban living enhance the natural contextual qualities of North Vancouver while maximizing economical, environmental, aesthetic, and public benefits?
a world in which all types of forests and trees outside forests are sustainably managed, contribute to sustainable development and provide economic, social, environmental and cultural benefits for present and future generations
The UN Strategic Plan for Forests 2030
Looking North from Lonsdale Avenue & 13th - The main view towards Downtown Vancouver and the Sunset to the West have been maximized for all units where possible. There is a harmony between the buildings form and the North Shore mountains in the background and the design attempts to blur the natural and built environments.
Looking South From Lonsdale Avenue & 15th - The unique aesthetics of the project adds an iconic building to the heart of Central Lonsdale. This creates an opportunity for the community to experience the performance of design and its power in creating benefits for the public while increasing economic benefits for all stake holders.
The modular Mass-Timber structure creates both an environmental friendly solution and expedites the construction process bringing together environmental and financial benefits.
An appropriate response to it's context, the building blurs the edges of natural and built. The residents of this building will enjoy the naturalistic timber, the greenery, the maximized desired views, and optimized solar gain.
Controlled amount of glazing and opening on the building increase energy efficiency and also contribute to environmental goals of the project. The greenery on the South and West side of the building also help with natural cooling and shading for the units.
The distinct entry & the all wood interior design of the lobby are also unique design features of the project.
